Frequently Asked Questions

Your Remodeling Questions, Answered

Honest answers about kitchen remodeling, bathroom renovation, permits, costs, and working with Infinity Kitchen and Bath in Prescott, AZ.

Everything You Want to Know Before You Start

We get a lot of the same questions — and that makes sense. Remodeling is a big investment and most homeowners haven't done it before. Below are the questions we hear most often, grouped by topic. If you don't see yours, reach out — we're happy to answer directly.

General Questions
Is Infinity Kitchen and Bath licensed and insured?
Yes. Infinity Kitchen and Bath holds Arizona ROC license #339999. We are fully licensed, bonded, and insured. You can verify our license status directly at the Arizona Registrar of Contractors website (azroc.gov). We carry general liability insurance and workers' compensation — and we're happy to provide certificates of insurance before work begins.
How long has Infinity Kitchen and Bath been in business?
We've been serving Prescott and the surrounding Yavapai County area since 2013. Our team brings over 35 years of combined installation experience. We are a family-owned business — not a franchise — and the same core team that founded the company is still leading every project.
What areas do you serve?
Our primary service area includes Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Mayer, Williamson Valley, and Cordes Lakes. We also regularly work in Camp Verde, Cottonwood, and Sedona. We do not charge a travel fee for any of these communities. If you're in a location not listed, call us — we'll let you know if we can accommodate your project.
What is your design-build process?
Design-build means one company handles both the design and the construction — under one contract, one team, and one point of accountability. We start with a free in-home consultation, then produce CAD drawings and 3D renderings so you can see your remodel before demo starts. Once you approve the design and contract, we manage permits, scheduling, and installation from start to finish. Learn more on our design-build page.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes — our initial consultation and estimate are always free. We come to your home, assess the space, discuss your goals, and provide a detailed written quote with no obligation. We do not use "starting at" pricing or ballpark estimates — we give you a real number based on your specific project.
Kitchen Remodeling
How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Prescott?
Most kitchen remodels at Infinity fall between $25,000 and $65,000, depending on scope. A cosmetic refresh (cabinet painting, new countertops, backsplash) typically runs $8,000–$18,000. A full remodel with new cabinets, quartz countertops, and layout changes runs $30,000–$65,000. Full renovations with structural work and premium finishes can reach $80,000–$100,000+. See our full breakdown on the kitchen remodel cost page.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
A typical full kitchen remodel takes 4–8 weeks from demo to final walkthrough, depending on scope. Cosmetic refreshes (no layout changes) can be completed in 1–3 weeks. Projects that involve structural work, custom cabinetry, or permit delays may run 10–14 weeks. We give you a realistic timeline in writing before work begins — and we stick to it.
Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel in Prescott?
It depends on the scope. Cosmetic work (painting, countertops, hardware) does not require a permit. Any work that involves moving plumbing, adding electrical circuits, removing walls, or structural changes requires a building permit through the City of Prescott Building Safety Division or Yavapai County. Infinity handles all permit applications as part of our service — you never need to visit the permit office yourself.
Can I use my kitchen during the remodel?
For most of the project, your kitchen will be out of service. We recommend setting up a temporary kitchen in another room — a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker cover the basics. For larger projects, some clients eat out or use meal prep services during the 4–8 week build. We do our best to stage work sequentially so your disruption window is as short as possible.
What countertop material do you recommend?
For most households, quartz is the practical choice — non-porous, zero maintenance, and consistent appearance. For homeowners who want a unique natural stone look and are willing to seal annually, granite is an excellent option. Quartzite offers a marble-like appearance with better durability but at a higher price point. We'll bring samples to your consultation and walk through the trade-offs for your specific kitchen. See our quartz vs. granite guide for a detailed comparison.
Bathroom Remodeling
How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Prescott?
Bathroom remodels at Infinity typically range from $12,000 (basic hall bath update) to $65,000+ (full master bath transformation). A mid-range bathroom with new tile shower, vanity, and flooring usually runs $18,000–$35,000. A full master bath with a walk-in shower, soaking tub, dual vanity, and heated floor can reach $45,000–$75,000. Full details on our bathroom remodel cost page.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A standard bathroom remodel takes 2–4 weeks. A small hall bath with a tub-to-shower conversion and new vanity can be done in 10–14 days. A full master bath renovation with a custom tile shower typically takes 3–5 weeks. We schedule work to minimize the number of days you're without a functioning bathroom.
Should I choose a groutless shower or a tile shower?
Both are good options — they serve different homeowners. Groutless solid-surface panels (Sentrel) require zero maintenance, install in 1–2 days, and are ideal for busy households, vacation rentals, and aging-in-place situations. Custom tile showers offer unlimited design flexibility and a high-end aesthetic but require grout sealing and cleaning. We offer both. Our honest comparison is on the groutless vs. tile showers page.
Is a tub-to-shower conversion worth it?
For most Prescott homeowners — yes. If you haven't used your tub in years, converting it to a walk-in shower recaptures 15–18 square feet, eliminates a dated fixture, and creates a bathroom you'll actually use every day. The exception: if you have only one bathroom and buyers in your price range expect a tub, keeping it may make sense for resale. We'll give you an honest assessment for your specific situation. Learn more on our tub-to-shower conversion page.
Do you handle all trades in a bathroom remodel — plumbing, tile, electrical?
Yes. As a design-build contractor, we manage all trades under one contract. Our crews handle demo, waterproofing, tile installation, vanity installation, and finish work. Licensed subcontractors handle any plumbing rough-in changes and electrical work, all coordinated by Infinity. You deal with one point of contact throughout — not a rotating cast of separate contractors.
Process & Permits
Will I see my remodel design before work starts?
Yes — that's the whole point of our design-build process. We produce full CAD drawings and 3D renderings of your kitchen or bathroom before a single permit is filed. You approve every detail — cabinet layout, tile selection, countertop material, fixture placement — before demo begins. Changes at the design stage are easy and free. Changes after construction starts are expensive and slow. We invest significant time in the design phase to prevent surprises.
Do you pull permits, or is that the homeowner's responsibility?
We pull all required permits. Infinity submits the permit application, responds to any plan review corrections, pays the permit fees (included in your quote), and schedules all required inspections. Homeowners never need to visit a permit office or deal with the building department. This is a standard part of our service — not an add-on.
How do I know my project will stay on budget?
We provide a detailed, itemized contract before work begins. Our quotes include materials, labor, permits, and any known variables. We use a fixed-price contract — not time-and-materials — so you know your number before we start. The only things that can change your final cost are homeowner-requested scope changes or genuine surprises hidden inside walls (old plumbing, structural issues) that are disclosed and approved before we proceed.
Do I need to be home during the remodel?
You don't need to be home every day, but we ask that you're available by phone for quick decisions. Many clients give us a key or code and check in on the project at the end of each day. We provide daily updates and flag any decisions that need your input immediately. If you work from home, most of our work is manageable alongside a normal work day — we're not a crew that plays music at 100 decibels.
What warranty do you offer?
We warranty our labor for one year from project completion. Material warranties vary by manufacturer — cabinets typically carry a limited lifetime warranty, countertops carry a 10–15 year warranty, and LVP flooring carries a 15–25 year manufacturer warranty depending on the brand. We walk you through every applicable warranty at final handoff and provide documentation. If something goes wrong within our warranty period, we come back and fix it — no runaround.
Pricing & Materials
Why does Infinity say "factory-direct pricing"?
We buy cabinets, countertops, and tile directly from manufacturers and distributors — not through a retail showroom. When you buy materials through a design showroom or kitchen-and-bath store, you typically pay a 25–40% markup over what the contractor pays. Because we buy direct and pass those savings to you, your dollar goes further on materials. This is one of the reasons our quotes often come in below Scottsdale-based contractors who build showroom overhead into their pricing.
What is the best flooring for a Prescott kitchen or bathroom?
For kitchens and living areas, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is our top recommendation — it's 100% waterproof, comfortable underfoot, and looks like real hardwood. For bathrooms and shower floors, porcelain tile is the right choice — it handles wet conditions better and is available in the slip-resistant ratings required for shower floors. We do not recommend LVP for shower walls or floors. See our LVP vs. tile comparison for more detail.
Can I supply my own materials?
In most cases, no. When we supply materials, we can guarantee quality, control scheduling, and back the work with our full warranty. When homeowners supply their own materials, we lose control over quality and delivery timelines — and we can't warranty materials we didn't source. Exceptions may be made for specific items (a fixture you purchased, a particular tile you sourced) on a case-by-case basis. Discuss this during your consultation.
Do you offer financing?
We work with third-party financing partners that offer home improvement loans for qualified applicants. Terms and rates vary by lender and credit profile. Ask about financing options during your consultation — we can provide information on current programs. We do not directly extend credit, but we can facilitate the introduction to lending partners we've worked with.
How do I get started?
The easiest way is to fill out our contact form or call us at 928-800-1998. We'll schedule a free in-home consultation at a time that works for you. The consultation takes about an hour — we walk the space, discuss your goals, look at photos or inspiration you've collected, and give you a realistic sense of scope, timeline, and budget before you commit to anything.
